Decorate Your Tealight Cake - Part 3

Hey everyone! This is the final part to my tealight cakes series; how to decorate!

Decorating the cake is super simple. Let your imagination go wild :D But if you are going through a creative road block, google search for some actual cakes like this.

Stick on pearls and gems can be bought at the dollar store like the ones I used here. They are cheap and easy to use.

If you have the money for a flower punch, all to ya. If not you can easily draw out the flower with a black pen and bend the petals to give it some shape.

I've also seen a lot of tutorials using a large button punch. I see an easier way to do this; try a program like Adobe Photoshop, you can print out custom shapes and templates. Here is something I made for you guys :)

Use these templates for the top and bottom tier, respectively.

Remember that there is no wrong or right way to do arts and crafts ^^

Keep on crafting everyone :D

Tea Light Cake Template Part 2!

Hey guys! So there is part 2 of my tea light cake tutorial.  Part 2 include the second tier to the cake :)

Click on the image above and save the original size file.   Be sure if you are printing directly onto decorative paper, that you print on the wrong side. You could also trace around the printed template onto nicer paper.

Cut around the template, including the centre grey circle (you may want to take your cake from part 1 and trace around the centre circle for a better fit).  Glue down the tabs all the way around the centre circle, then connect the flap to join the walls of the tier.

The tabs that you've glued will protrude into the centre circle, so fold it downward (this will help adhere the top layer to this layer).

Now, fit your cake into the centre circle and glue it into place.  Allow it to dry upside down.  I like to prop it up inside a roll of tape.

Once dry, you can decorate using gems, flowers, anything you like!

Tea Light Cake Tutorial with Template ^^

Hello everyone! Today I will finally post up the tea light cake tutorial with template!

You've seen my tea light cakes in my Birthday Explosion Box and Rose Explosion Box.  So, I've created a simple template you can print out and use to decorate the tea lights with.

I purchased my tea lights from Michaels craft store.  The come in a pack of 6 for around $9 CAD.  I've seen something similar at the dollar store but the flame wasn't as cute.  Nonetheless, both would work fine.

Print the original image, should measure 9x9 cm

Print the template out and cut around the tabs.  Also, cut out the middle circle, this will fit over the flame.  Be sure if you are printing directly onto decorative paper, that you print on the wrong side.  You could also trace around the printed template onto nice paper.

Glue down the top circle first.  If you have time, allow this to dry before moving on.  Now, glue down the tabs onto the side of the tea light candle.

From here you can leave it as is, but I don't really like the look of the tabs so cut out a strip that will fit the circumference of your tea light.  For this one it measures 1.8 x 12.5 cm.  Add a centimetre or so to glue it down.

Once dry, you can decorate using gems, flowers, anything you like!
