After months after I posted a tutorial on my explosion box template, I realized I didn't know a tutorial for the lid! So here is a template I drafted for a 4x4 inches explosion box:

The lid is 4.25x4.25x0.75 inches. I like to reinforce the sides of the lid so it's less fragile and bends less. Using a nice thick card stock would be perfect for this lid. For the best results, score the fold lines and use a glue with a thicker consistency such as Aleene's Tacky Glue, a glue stick, or a glue gun.
